Common Clinic Questions
Where can patients (attached and unattached) go for WIC or episodic care?
- If you have a family doctor or nurse practitioner at Shoreline, you should first attempt to seek episodic or urgent care through your primary care provider.
- In spring of 2024, Island Health is enhancing a current Primary Care Clinic program to provide same day, episodic care for all ages and clinical complexity. Working in a team-based model, it will be located initially in the Peninsula Health Unit which is adjacent to SPH. The clinic is currently open evenings, weekends and on statutory holidays. Planning is underway to extend hours as the clinic’s capacity grows. As we learn more we will update our FAQs section on the website.
- Urgent and Primary Patient Care locations:
- North Quadra Urgent and Primary Care Centre – Saanich
- James Bay Urgent Primary Care Centre – Victoria
- Gorge Urgent and Primary Care Centre – Victoria
- Westshore Urgent Primary Care Centre – Langford
- Esquimalt Urgent Primary Care Centre – Esquimalt
What will happen to my patient records currently kept at Shoreline Medical Clinic and how can they get a copy of them?
- Ask the new clinic or PCP to send us a formal request of records. This will authorize Shoreline staff to send the records to the new clinic.
- Visit our clinic in person to fill out a formal release of records form. You can download the form here.
- Due to the volume of records requests during the transition patients it will take up to 6-8 weeks for records to be transferred to the new clinic.
- Please note, there will be a charge based on the size of the chart request. Base rate for 30 pages is $43.25 then a per page charge after the first 30 pages. Next ten pages @ 2.10 per page and then .30 per page after this
How will patients get follow-up from tests ordered at Shoreline prior to April 1 2024?
- Patients can access test results on the Health Gateway website: https://www.healthgateway.gov.bc.ca/ or MyCareCompass https://www.lifelabs.com/mycarecompass/
- If a test result requires physician follow up, a member of Shoreline will contact the patient to arrange follow up.
How can patients get a family doctor or nurse practitioner?
All unattached patients are encouraged to register on the health connect registry at www.healthlinkbc.ca/health-connect-registry or call 8-1-1 to register.
What is happening with patients who were previously with Dr Duguay (Dr. Williams prior to that) and Shoreline said they would try to find them a family doctor?
Shoreline remains committed to helping Dr. Duguay’s and Dr. Williams’ former patients access a family doctor either through attachment to a Shoreline MD when capacity allows, or by referring the patient to another clinic.
Until March 31, how can unattached/WIC patients book a walk-in clinic appointment at a Shoreline Medical Clinic?
Until March 31st, our Sidney and Brentwood clinics will continue to book patients into our walk-in clinics. All recalls or follow-ups will be pre-booked by our medical office assistants.
AFTER March 31, how can unattached/WIC patients book a walk-in clinic appointment?
After March 31st, Shoreline will no longer accept walk-in patients.

Our Goals
Since 2016, we have grown from 5 founding primary care providers to 25; expanded facilities in Sidney, and opened a second location in Brentwood.
We have found physicians for more than 10,000 residents of the Saanich Peninsula. However, our work will not be complete until every resident of the Saanich Peninsula has access to a family doctor.
In the meantime, we continue to operate walk-in clinics in Sidney and Brentwood Bay to assist those residents of the Saanich Peninsula who do not have a family doctor. The last couple of years have been difficult ones for all of us, and Shoreline has not been spared some of the challenges that other organizations and corporations have experienced.
Our walk-in clinics have received stabilization funds from the Ministry of Health; funds which have helped greatly, and donors have provided assistance in our search for both staff and physicians. However, Shoreline has the only walk-in clinics in the three Saanich Peninsula municipalities, and there are more than 10,000 people still without a physician in our community alone.
Please try to be kind to our staff members and physicians, who care deeply about doing their best for our patients. Thank you for your understanding.
Shoreline Medical Society
Shoreline Medical clinics are owned and operated by a charitable non-profit called Shoreline Medical Society. Our vision is to be a leading primary care network for the Saanich Peninsula, integrating multiple disciplines working together to provide accessible community health care.
Our clinic acknowledges that the land on which we work is the traditional territory of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the WSÁNEĆ peoples
