What Does CTAS 4 & 5 Mean? 

When you go to the Emergency Department, nurses use a system called CTAS (Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale) to decide how urgently someone needs care. 

• CTAS 1–3 = Life-threatening or very urgent conditions (seen quickly) 

• CTAS 4 & 5 = Less urgent or non-emergency concerns (longer wait times)
